Boars Head Morning Abseil Expedition

From AUD $220.00
  • Duration: 4 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: KATOOMBA, NSW

Overlooking the Megalong Valley and Narrow Neck plateau this adventure involves descending part way down a large cliffline (approx. 200 metres) of the upper Blue Mountains in a series of stages or ‘pitches’. This four pitch expedition boasts some exciting abseiling and interesting traverses as you straddle and then descend into the massive chasm that forms the second and third pitches. Half way into the valley - still a long way above the ground - you will follow a skyline traverse on narrow ledges and interesting rock features back to the top. An awesome experience that is suitable for beginners; but with extreme exposure to heights, make sure you ready yourself!

Equipment provided

We will provide you with a backpack, helmet, harness, carabiners, safety leashes and abseil descender.  We also cover your National Parks and Wildlife Service park entry fee.  While we encourage all participants to bring their own weather-appropriate clothing (see below), we have spare warm clothing and rain jackets if needed.

Thing to bring

Comfortable clothes suited to the weather.  Katoomba is 1000m above sea level and you can expect cooler temperatures than in Sydney.
As a general rule we recommend:

  • Long sleeves and pants for sun and scratch protection
  • Wool, synthetic and fleece fabrics (no cotton or denim)
  • Closed shoes
  • Sun hat, sunscreen and beanie
  • Rain jacket
  • Hair tie for those with long hair
  • Water bottle – at least 1.5 litres.
  • Personal medication (Ventolin/EpiPen etc.)
  • Camera or Smartphone

Participant Requirements

We believe our abseiling adventures are heaps of fun, but what goes down must come up! It’s important to us that you have the fitness and skills to enjoy your abseiling day so please read on:

Fitness:  Participants are required to have a moderate level of fitness.  While abseiling down the cliff is not particularly physically demanding, once participants reach the bottom they need to walk back to the top to re-join the group.

Abseiling:  Abseiling experience desirable but not necessary.

Also: BMAC requires each participant to follow all instructions from our guides, to maintain a safe work environment and ensure the well-being and safety of the whole group.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns, we’d be delighted to talk with you.
