Malaita Point 3/4 Day Abseil Expedition

From AUD $290.00
  • Duration: 6 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Katoomba, NSW

Abseiling Expeditions involve descending some of the large clifflines

(approx. 200 metres) of the upper Blue Mountains in a series of stages or
‘pitches’. No experience is necessary but be ready for some exposure to
heights. Most pitches finish on a large ledge or cave and lunch is usually
served with a spectacular view.

Malaita Point is a six pitch journey; with exciting exposure and in a
fabulous position to see famous landmarks this trip is a classic adventure.
Walk out via the Furber Steps or catch the Scenic Railway (extra charge
applies) for an easy ride back up.

Lunch

All BMAC 3/4 day participants receive a generous picnic

lunch, provided by our local deli.
Select one of their delicious, gourmet sandwich options when you book
your trip.  Altitude Deli can cater to
most dietary requirements with notice, so please let us know of your needs as
soon as possible.

Equipment provided

We will provide you with a backpack, helmet, harness,

carabiners, safety leashes and abseil descender.  We also cover your National Parks and
Wildlife Service park entry fee.  While
we encourage all participants to bring their own weather-appropriate clothing
(see below), we have spare warm clothing and rain jackets if needed.

Things to bring

Comfortable clothes suited to the conditions.  Katoomba is 1000m above sea level and you can

expect cooler temperatures than in Sydney.
As a general rule we recommend:

Long sleeves and pants for sun and scratch protection

Wool, synthetic and fleece fabrics (no cotton or denim)

Closed shoes

Sun hat, sunscreen and beanie

Rain jacket

Hair tie for those with long hair

Water bottle – at least 1.5 litres.

Personal medication (Ventolin/EpiPen etc.)

Camera or Smartphone

Participant Requirements

We believe our abseiling adventures are heaps of fun, but

what goes down must come up! It’s important to us that you have the fitness and
skills to enjoy your abseiling day so please read on:

Fitness:  Participants
are required to have a moderate level of fitness.  While abseiling down the cliff is not
particularly physically demanding, once participants reach the bottom they need
to walk back to the top to re-join the group.

Abseiling:  Abseiling
experience desirable but not necessary.

Also: BMAC requires each participant to follow all
instructions from our guides, to maintain a safe work environment and ensure
the wellbeing and safety of the whole group.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns,

we’d be delighted to talk with you.
